Welcome to Conner Street Elementary

We are located at 445 Conner Street in Hurricane, West Virginia. We have 365 outstanding students in grades pre-K through fifth. Our Principal is Ms. Kristi Barker. We have twenty-two amazing classroom teachers, six fantastic classroom aides, three exceptional custodians, two caring secretaries, and three wonderful cooks. Our school was built in 1966 and a new addition was added in 2013. We are fortunate to be a Leader in Me school. We believe in educating the whole child. We believe that all students can learn and that we can be successful at teaching all students. We welcome parent and community involvement because we believe that together we can achieve more. Please visit our website to learn about the exciting things happening at Conner Street Elementary School!

*Changes of Transportation:

If your child’s usual method of transportation home changes, we MUST have it in writing from you. Children often become confused about changes in transportation, and if we don’t have a note from a parent/guardian, we will be sending them home their usual way. If a child is going home with another child at school, we MUST have written notes from BOTH parents in the morning. Thanks for understanding.

The attendance policy requires all student excuses to be turned into the teacher the day the student returns. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

*Signing students out from school:

If at all possible, please schedule doctor appointments outside of school hours. If you do have to pick up a child for an appointment, we ask that you do so before 2:00 to minimize disruption during the preparation for dismissal/ bus traffic.

  • Please wear coats to school! We go outside at recess if it is 40 degrees or above. Put names on tags if you can.

Morning Drop Offs: Please pull through the drop off lane in the first lane (NOT the bus lane) daily. We have had parent traffic blocking bus drop offs in the mornings due to not following this rule. Thanks for your help!

Congratulations to Mrs. King’s 3rd Grade Class for bringing in the most Box Tops in October! They have earned a popcorn party. Please keep bringing in your Box Tops in a ziplock bag or sealed envelope with your child's name and teacher's name on it. Box Tops are on hundreds of items from school supplies to taco shells. Our school gets 10 cents for each unexpired box top which really adds up if we all help. If you have any questions email Somer, our box top coordinator at somerhollaway@yahoo.com.
